Pinwheel Quilt Along Finished Top

I spent a long time on this today.  If you remember, I had my blocks done.  I was inspired by this quilt.  But I didn't have scraps left over.  So, I bought a charm pack, cut the charms in half, and made a scrappy border from those instead.  I also added a 6 inch border of white.  I really like it.  It is quite big though.  I'd guess about a 72 inch square, doesn't look like it in this photo though.  Makes me really nervous to think about quilting that myself.  I will have to think on it a bit or start saving my pennies for the long armer.  A big thanks to Rachel for her tutorials on the quilt along!  I had fun.

I am really glad that I made 4 of those blocks with the border though, because I think it helped balance the quilt versus one.

I used Boutique by Chez Moi of Moda Fabrics on this quilt and the background material was Kona Snow.  You can still find the quilt along directions at PS I Quilt.  She has all of the blocks listed on the side bar of her blog.

Finally caught up

Not perfect, but what's new with that?  Nothing.  I worked a long time on both of these blocks, which for some reason did not want to come together easily for me.  Oh well.  They are done.

In other news, here is an interesting conversation I had with the boy today.  The boy thinks his dog is constantly trying to bite him.  Mind you, this dog is a lickerI know, Fantastic.  I have yet to see the dog try to bite the boy.  I have seen him lick him like everyone else.  So the conversation goes like this (after the dog has been corrected for biting by the boy for about the 20th time this morning).
Me:  Boy, stop correcting the dog.  He is not biting you.  He just wants to give you some kisses.
Boy:  No, he is trying to bite me.
Me:  No, he isn't.  He doesn't bite.  I have never seen him try to bite you.  He doesn't ever try to bite me when I am putting on his leash.  He just licks me.
Boy:  Well, must be you aren't as tasty to him as I am.

How can you argue with that logic??   Look at that face...would he hurt you? I think not, and this is coming from his least favorite fan in the house.

Jelly Roll Quilt Along Block 6

It was one of those days where I was preoccupied with something else.  I shouldn't have tried doing a simple block because it wasn't meant to be simple for me.  Have you ever had one of those days?  Where you manage to screw up the simplest of tasks?  Three times I screwed this block up.  I ended up fixing it twice and third time, I improvised.  Good times.  I do love the colors though.

Is anyone else worrying they might run out of fabric?

Jelly Roll Quilt Along Block 5

Well, I guess I am a few stitches behind most of you...seems to be my story these days.  But, I really liked this block.  I thought it went together nicely and I was really pleased with my color combination.  I wanted a block that had a green focus (not my favorite), and I managed to do it in a way I liked.  I also like how they are coming together.

Couldn't you eat this sweet little face up?

Sunday Sewing- Pinwheel Quilt Along

I was 4 blocks behind.  I made 2 of these first, and then I decided I really liked this block and I made 2 more. (I see there is a flick or red scrap on that green pinwheel...not a stain I promise.) I think making 4 of these helped even out the effect of the border throughout the quilt.  It brought a little unity.  I like how these all look together.  Hopefully I will get them sashed soon.  But, it may have to wait until summer vacation as we are keeping pretty busy these days.  What'd you work on over the weekend?

Jelly Roll Block 4

I couldn't decide what colors to use.  I think it looks good mixed in with the rest of the blocks.  I wanted to use some more of that brown, to blend things a bit.

Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along Week 3

I liked this quilt block because it let you show off some of the fabrics a bit.  Not to mention, I think it took me 10 minutes to whip together.

Friday Night Sew In

I think I am depressed.  I had myself convinced that I would win that Joel Dewberry Modern Meadow giveaway over at FQS.  Isn't that fabric the greatest?  Wouldn't it make the best bag ever?  Woe is me.  What a let down...I sure thought I felt lucky.  What is your latest fabric crave???

So, I did some sewing last night.  Block 2 on the Jelly Roll Quilt Along.  I like how it turned out.

And here are both of my blocks sitting together.  I like them.  Can't wait until the next one is posted.
What projects are you working on??

Thanks again to Heidi and Bobbi for organizing the fun.

Pinwheel Quilt Along Block 4

Oh we are having a rainy day here.  Yuck.  But, it makes for a good sewing day.  Here is my pinwheel quilt along block 4 finish.  The link can be found here.  I always have trouble with my points on this block.  It isn't my favorite.  I think when I get the rest of the blocks mixed in, it won't trouble me too much though.

Happy Saturday sewing everyone!

Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along

Konda over at Moose on the Porch Quilts has organized a fun Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along.  At first, I thought I would pass it up because I had already started the Pinwheel Sampler Quilt Along.  Then I saw the first block, and I just knew I needed to do it.  So, I dug in my stash and lo and behold, I had all of the fabric requirements.  I am using my first Jelly Roll that I ever purchased, and have obviously held onto for a quite a bit now.  This Moda collection is Roman Holiday.  You still have time to participate.  The next block doesn't post until the 15th of March.  So, head on over there and get yourself started.

What are you working on this weekend?

Pinwheel Quilt Along- Block 2

Yea!  Week 2 is here already.  Here are my two 2nd blocks.  You're still not too far behind, there is time for you to join in the fun.  Here is the link for week two.  This week was easy peasey, folks!  Thanks again to Rachel for all of the fun.

I think I really like that blue one, and I am not a blue fan typically.  Come back tomorrw, I am going share my goals for the month.  I still haven't a clue what they are ....so we will all be in for a surprise!

Pinwheel Sampler Quilt Along

Have you heard?  Rachel has posted the first block of the Pinwheel Sampler Quilt Along.  You should join in the fun.  Here is the link to the first block.  You actually make 2 of block one.

You can use a layer cake for the quilt along or fat quarters along with sashing yardage.  The quilt will be around a 70 inch square.

Here are my two blocks!
I am using the Boutique Layer Cake. This was a gift to me from my wonderful friend, Kelly. I am so excited to be using this fabric. It is going to be fabulous. I was pretty pleased with my first two blocks.  The red accent fabric looks a little odd here...it looks better in person.

So, what are you waiting for?  I KNOW you have some fabric stashed somewhere that you could use.  Join in the fun.  A special thanks to Rachel for all of her work on the Quilt Along.  I am having a fabulous time.

Don't forget to get in on the giveaway (previous post).  There is still time.
