UFO Bust

Susan issued a UFO challenge.  I happen to have a few unfinished projects laying around that I'd like to see get done in 2011.

Here is my list that I want to start with:

1.  red quilted purse/bag- been cut out for a bit
2.  yellow/green quilted purse/bag- already cut out
3.  red Amira purse
4.  Jolly quilt- quilting and binding
5.  Swanky quilt- quilting and binding
6.  Keyholes quilt- quilting binding
7.  NY Beauty quilt- quilting and binding.

Also, Kelly has issued a challenge to take the pressure off one's self and just enjoy sewing.  I signed up for both...I figure I am covered then!  LOL.  No really.  My intentions are to feel like finishing up some of these projects.  Wouldn't that be great?  I pull out that box of quilt tops...and it makes me feel bad.  They shouldn't be stuffed under a bed.

Weaving up some magic

I have been working on that quilt for my nephew's 3rd birthday. I have all the blocks together now and just need to add the borders. I say 'just' but it always seems to take awhile. I am very pleased with this take on the traditional 9 patch and chains. It is meant to look like a basket weave. Even my husband liked it. I will keep you updated.
As a side note, little buddy said some funny stuff in the sewing room this weekend...or at least I thought it was cute.
  • "Hey, whatcha doin' with them pokers? (I guess he had been into my pins before and felt their wrath!)
  • "Boy, this room is a mess, mom." (So, my WIPS are taking over a bit! You know it is bad when your 3 year tells you it is time to clean up.)

A Quilt for My Nephew

This quilt pattern came out of an old McCall's issue. My nephew requested that I use blue, his favorite color. I found the football pattern to use for the diamond. I was a bit unsure if it would all pull together right up until the very end of piecing, but I was quite pleased with the outcome. This seems much larger than imagine 54 inches to be! This always seems to happen to me.

Circa 1930's Fabrics

This is a baby shower present I created using 2.5 inch strips of Circa 1930's fabrics' stash in a variety of yellow and blue fabrics. I was pleased with what a quick project this turned out to be, and it is quite cheerful. This still needs to be finished. I haven't decided if I want to invest the time or the money into it.

Overwhelmed

My current UFO (unfinished object) is a king size quilt that needs to be binded. I am fairly new to binding. I think this might be a painful experience trying to keep the weight of this huge monster from pulling the quilt from my machine. I am sure it won't be so bad, if only I would get started!!! Perhaps the real reason for the delay is that once I get it done, then I need to paint my bedroom so we can enjoy the quilt!
