Pinwheel Baby Quilt

I have always wanted to make this pinwheel baby quilt by Jodi of Pleasant Home.  Always finally came true, I guess.  I whipped out the quilt top in about 4 hours.  You can find the tutorial here at Moda Bake Shop.

Fabric:  Ten Little Things by Jenn Ski of Moda (her first line)
FYI:  Only precuts are released of this line right now.  Yardage comes in April.

I love the prairie points.  Oh, and the pinwheels.  Very cute.

Now I must admit, that Jodi has you cut your squares into triangles before sewing them for the 4 quarters of your pinwheel.  I had never done a pinwheel this way.  I know...you're thinking, what?  I kind of like it.  Sure beat drawing lines.  Also, I had never pressed my seams open.  I usually marry the seams....you know what I mean?  I think these worked out better than any of my previous pinwheels.  Nice and pointy.  You know what I mean?

That is darling!!! I only did pinwheels for the first time on the quilt I'm doing now - but no marking, just put two squares together right sides facing, 1/4 seam around all four sides, then cut from corner to corner both ways. It was so painless, and no marking!

I have always loved Pinwheels and I am especially fond of those prairie points.

Just gorgeous! I do all my triangles by cutting them first and then sewing, I love the no marking part :) I do press some of my seams open too, but it depends on how I am going to quilt it as I don't trust stitch-in-the-ditch on open seams.

So, does that mean you ironed the seams open this time? I guess I'm too old school -- I can't bring myself to do that LOL.

Oh well, that's a darling quilt. I love the prairie points!

Cute!! I've learned the best thing for me to do is press my seams open when making pinwheels. But I'm not sure about cutting my triangles first. Things are wonky enough as it is when it comes to me making pinwheels.
