Saturday Sewing Report

So, I did manage a bit of sewing on Saturday.  I have a couple of finished items to show and then a couple of things that just need finishing.

First, I personalized and sewed a very cute snowman pillowcase for a friend of ours who has a December birthday.  Of course, I wasn't pleased with that puckering around the embroidery...any tips?  I had a tear away stabilizer on the backside.  This photo makes it look red, but it is a very cheery, bright pink.

Then, I finished the binding on this table runner.  I am quite pleased with this.

Sorry no pictures, but I did manage to get that scrappy border on that square table topper, quilted it, and sewed the binding on the top.  I hope to get the hand-work done this week to show you.  I was very pleased with it.  Also, I cute out the pieces for 2 coupon clutches that I want to make.  I hope to do a bit of sewing on those today perhaps.

Have I mentioned that I am done Christmas shopping?  Yessirree!

  4. Love the pillowcase, very cheery! Sometimes I use two pieces of tear-away, one going one way and the other piece going the other way. It seems to add a bit more stabilization. Do you do a baste around the design first? That can help too.

Your tablerunner is GORGEOUS! Excellent job! And congrats on finishing your Christmas shopping, I've almost started, lol!

  8. Nice finishes! I have no advice on the puckering as I get puckers too. I have decided to embrace the puckers and use them as a design element. LOL!! I totally love the fabric you used in the pillowcase. That table runner... what pattern is it? It looks familiar and I'm sure it's in one of the books I have. We went out Saturday night and made a good dent in our Christmas shopping list. I even wrapped all of Amelia's gifts so far. I've NEVER been this organized with Christmas. EVER!
