Winner!

An overwhelming majority of you loved the Ginger Blossom bag!  It is so interesting to see other people's takes on the bags too.  That was my favorite as well.  They are all adorable and sturdy though.

Congratulations to Sydney of Crafty Craftiness!  She is the official winner.  Sydney chose Frolic...one of my favorite lines out right now!  Head on over to Sydney's blog.  She has lots of cute projects posted, and I bet she'd be thrilled to hear from you.

I was fortunate enough to win 2 giveaways myself last week, which is always fun.  When my goodies arrive, I will be sure to post about them.  Whenever I win, I always think it is time to pay it forward here at DQ and have my own giveaway.  Thanks to everyone who entered, I wish I could have given you all a tote but I think that would take me all summer!  LOL.

Please keep coming back, I love hearing from you!

What's better than a new bag? 3 bags!

So, I have been working on my tote for the Summer Tote Bag Swap.  I just couldn't decide which fabric to use, so I made 3 bags using the pattern Mini Bow Tucks by Quilts Illustrated.  LOL.  I really like them.  They are very sturdy.  I used fusible fleece on the outside layer, and I fused craft fuse to inside lining.    They also have great pockets...for you pocket lovers out there.  I quilted each bag differently.  They are 10 inches by 11 inches.

Here they are in all of their glory:

This uses a pretty teal and green from Fig Tree Quilts of Moda.  For some reason, the color is a bit off on these pictures...my apologies.  This is actually a very pretty teal.  I stippled on this one.

This bag features Ginger Blossoms fabric.  I quilted this with a cross hatch.

This bag features Frolic by Sandy Gervais of Moda.  I meandered on this bag with small loops.

Which is your favorite?  I am sending one of these bags to my Swap partner, but I am also going to give one away.  To enter, simply leave me a comment stating which is your favorite.

THANKS FOR VIEWING MY BAGS.  The giveaway is now officially closed!

Schnibbles Times Two- McGuffey

This fabric is so summery, it is definitely the time to work on this project.  I just finished the top of my McGuffey for Kelly's contest.  Now I need to quilt it.

Pretty cute, huh?

Finally caught up

Not perfect, but what's new with that?  Nothing.  I worked a long time on both of these blocks, which for some reason did not want to come together easily for me.  Oh well.  They are done.

In other news, here is an interesting conversation I had with the boy today.  The boy thinks his dog is constantly trying to bite him.  Mind you, this dog is a lickerI know, Fantastic.  I have yet to see the dog try to bite the boy.  I have seen him lick him like everyone else.  So the conversation goes like this (after the dog has been corrected for biting by the boy for about the 20th time this morning).
Me:  Boy, stop correcting the dog.  He is not biting you.  He just wants to give you some kisses.
Boy:  No, he is trying to bite me.
Me:  No, he isn't.  He doesn't bite.  I have never seen him try to bite you.  He doesn't ever try to bite me when I am putting on his leash.  He just licks me.
Boy:  Well, must be you aren't as tasty to him as I am.

How can you argue with that logic??   Look at that face...would he hurt you? I think not, and this is coming from his least favorite fan in the house.

Oh Boy!

I started this project earlier today.  This is a pattern from an old issue of Quilts and More that I have wanted to make. I cut my pieces and assembled all of my blocks today.  I think they are really darling.

This is a present for our friends who are having a baby boy.  I just love this Lakehouse fabric that I have been hoarding for a while.  I think in the center, I will applique the baby's initial and maybe embroidery his name over top.  But, they haven't decided on a name, so that is why I am waiting to put the blocks together.

I am also waiting for border fabric to arrive and backing material.  I ordered it today.  It should be here by the end of the week.

Schnibbles Times Two Contest

Kelly is hosting a Schnibbles Times Two Contest from her fabulous shop.  In addition to the prizes Moda and The Patchwork Place are offering, she is also offering some great prizes.  I am participating using Frolic by Sandy Gervais of Moda Fabrics.  I just rounded up all of my fabrics and I hope to get started in the near future on this project.  There is still plenty of time to sign up.  You have until June 30th to email your picture of blog about it and then until July 31st to finish your quilt.  What are you waiting for?  Go here for the details.

Much Better

I finished my Tisket a Tasket table topper.  I did redo the centers and am pretty pleased to how they came out.  A special thank you for the tips.  I used a tear away stabilizer on the underside, I slowed my speed way down, I did it during daylight hours to help with my lighting issue, and I pivoted every few stitches.  Thanks so much for the help.

In other big news

We got a puppy.  Shocking, isn't it?

Meet Jake-the-wonderdog.  I really didn't want a dog, but the boy did.  The husband wanted one too.  Guess who won?  Good thing he is cute.  Jake is a 4 month old Miniature Australian Shepherd.  They are suppose to like to herd people.  We thought a kid herder is always a good thing.

In other big news, we finished up soccer season.  Buddy scored 3 goals at the last game.  What a cute kid.

T ball is still 'in play' though.  Pretty cute.

Thanks!
