Let's have a purse party

I have still been busy with this magazine.

Only this time, I made this purse.

I love it! The Director (of Lining Things Up Straight) and I bought this fabric on my birthday quilt show/shop spree. Isn't it fresh? I love the pink and browns together. Anyway, the handles are a bit weird, one short, one long...but it is meant to be looped shut like above and carried by the long handle.

Here is an inside shot.

Oh...I should probably say if I liked the pattern or not. It was easy enough to follow, at least for all of you. You all would have laughed me out of blog land when I completely sewed the top shut. I told you, I need patterns for DUMMIES! ;) My seam ripper and I are BFFs.

On the Apronista network, Lucy was collecting aprons for women whose houses were struck by a tornado or out of electricity due to the tornado. So, this is the apron I am sending.

Tootles for now, bloggals! We are off to buy a swingset. Big decisions to be made. THINK about how much material I could buy for the price of a swingset these days! But, I will do anything for buddy.

Blitzing Out Some Birthday Presents

Attention, Attention! The monkeys are in the building. Oh yeah, the monkey quilt is back from the quilter. I even finished the binding lickity split...just a little banana humor for you bloggals.

I was delighted with her attention to details. Perhaps you can better see the monkeys and bananas she stitched all over it, if I show you the back.

How cool is that? I think the Director would like it on our next quilt! LOL. Just kidding.

My nephew, David, loves the color orange, hence the orangeness. Wow, it is bright....that's is all I can say. I just love this basket weave pattern and monkey border. It is so cheerful. I think it is my favorite, at least this week. Truthfully, I am a bit sad to part with it. I decided to make both of my nephews quilts for the their birthdays this year because I wasn't quilting when they were born, or a definitely would have made both of them one then. They are both special guys and they deserve something special made by their aunt.

I decided to whip up a towel apron with the new machine for him, as well. Below is buddy modeling it. Please note that David is not buddy's name. ;) He is pretty excited though.

I folded up the bottom of the towel which I also embroidered orange trim on, to make 4 pockets. Pockets are exciting to a 3 year old. Hey, let's face it- pockets must be exciting to a 31 year old, or I wouldn't be mentioning it either.

Ready to ship

Well, as you can see the pocket is on and it is ready to go. I really do like how it turned out.

I was also pleased with the towels. Okay, so I admit that I was ecstatic that I managed to get the lettering on there straight. It's the small things in life that are thrilling.

Did anyone else buy some bargains from the Fat Quarter Shop sale? I am looking for some ideas for this cute Valentine fat quarter pack I bought. I LUV it. LUUUUUVVVV it. I have wanted it since November, but I held out.

Any suggestions? I am afraid if I go chopping it up for a table runner I will lose the pictures I love so dear. I would need something with wide squares or cuts.

I also bought this other cute fabric. This is not like anything I typically buy, but I reall think it is charmingly summerly cute. I know, this is my blog and I can make up my own words.

Happy Saturday to you! I hope you enjoy your holiday weekend. It was a beautiful day here today. I hope sunshine filled your afternoon and sewing filled your evening. I am finishing up some big projects. I will report in later. Tootles, bloggals!

Pattern review

I have been working on my apron for the apron swap.

Also, here is one my towels to send with it. I also made a dish cloth that says Wash. I thought they were cute. To add the ric rac or not...that is the question. I think I shall.

I was following this pattern

out of this magazine.
Might I add that I felt that this pattern was HARD to follow. I guess I need more diagrams! Or a pattern for dummies! LOL.
Oh dear, and I still need to stitch on the pocket. I had my 'Director of Lining things up Level' help me at about midnight last night. I had it the way I thought was right, but he said I needed a correction. Typically, he is right in these matters. I sewed the pocket on... and it is clearly not level. Perhaps my partner in the swap hasn't had her V8 today??? Probably, no such luck though. So, I ripped it off.
I told the husband, he has been demoted. He told me he didn't have his glasses on. Why are you telling me this now, I say??? LOL

Oh, look at what I found at a quilt shop on the way back from my parent's house recently? Does it remind you of anything?

Did anyone do anything creative over the weekend? I've been busy reading all about proms and weddings! Sounds like fun! We went to an indoor waterpark. Little buddy had a blast. I am worn out, so tootles for now, gals!

Happy Mother's Day

We've had a nice weekend visiting with my mom, and soon we're off to visit with my husband's mom and family. Both of us are blessed with the nicest, most caring parents.

I already showed you the bag I made my mother-in-law, so here is a the little purse I made my mom. I also finally got around to taking a picture of the reversible apron I made mom for her birthday with some Dick and Jane fabrics and, I believe, some American Jane fabric on the opposite side.

I am so blessed by my little buddy. I cannot imagine life without him and I just love every second of being a mom. I hope you enjoy your special day!

And then came the shopping

After the quilt show, we stopped to shop at one of my favorite shops, Mabelena's. We ran into a friend of mine. She'll love that I am posting these pictures. Isn't this just a great shop. I had to post the picture of the Dick and Jane because my quilty friend, Bev, loves Dick and Jane. My husband is great in a quilt shop because he carries all of my bolts and even encourages me to buy more....who could ask for anything more??

Quilt Show Part 2

Here are a few more photos of all of those lovely quilts. Be back in a flash to show off some of fun shopping!

This is the quilt that earned my vote...it was a difficult choice though! Prom Dress:

Quilt Show Part 1

So, my great husband took me to a quilt show for my birthday. It was fun seeing all of the neat quilts the ladies made, and I enjoyed voting for my favorite. I have decided that I would really like to learn how to hand applique. I voted for a quilt called Prom Dresses. It was so sweet and had all of these hand appliqued prom dresses.

Color Challenge- Yellow

Cottage Magpie has issued a color challenge to her fans to capture their favorite yellow objects in their house. I thought this was a fun task. If you wish to participate, you have until May 4th.

Here are some of my favorites. 1. a yellow baby blanket from when I was a baby...my mom saved several handmade gifts from then are regifted them to me at my shower. It was a great surprise and I have saved all of them and 2 of Brady's to do someday when he becomes a daddy. 2. and 3. Daisies....white daisies are my favorites, but yellow are equally cheerful. 4. plate 5. small decorative plate my college roommate gave me 6. a great picture book I just know you'd all love if you read it, The Quilt Maker's Journey

Just Monkeyn' Around

So, the top of my nephew's quilt is finished. I just love it, these pictures do not do it justice. Vibrant! Crisp! And, it is off to the quilters....
